Teaching #80 The Highest Form of Happiness

 

[The Buddha taught that] your highest happiness comes from virtue because it leads to nonremorse, which leads to gladness and joy, which in turn brings serenity and happiness, which allows for the kind of dispassion and concentration that bring knowledge, vision, and liberation.

For your reflection: Over the next few days notice when you are meeting your own standard of virtue. Observe how this feels in your mind and how it feels in your body. Do you experience a sense of well-being under these circumstances that you may not have previously noticed?
