Teaching of the Week #74

Teaching #74: Right or Wise Action

Wise action arises out of clear comprehension, meaning you are clear about what is needed, what is appropriate, and what is doable within your limitations … Wise action is behavior that does not cause harm to yourself or others … Wise action acknowledges that you cannot control outcome and that you cannot know the ultimate outcome of any action.

Chapter 20, Pg 237-238

For your reflection: This week when you are with others, notice when their actions are unskillful and causing harm. Then ask yourself, in what similar way do you sometimes cause harm with your actions? Remember you are being mindful in order to learn right action, not to judge others or yourself.
