Teaching of the Week #42

Teaching 42: Why Your Mind Clings: The Hindrance Attack

The Buddha described five hindrances that cloud the mind and prevent us from knowing the cause of our suffering…sensual desire, ill will, sloth and torpor, restlessness and worry, and doubt. I call doubt the “mother of all hindrances” because it stops you from ever beginning to let loose of clinging. Doubt freezes the mind and undercuts your ability to cope with all the other hindrances.
