Teaching of the Week #29

Teaching #29: There Is a Cause of Your Suffering

In the Fourth Insight, the Buddha reveals that dukkha has a cause, and that cause is craving, meaning that you cling to and identify with what you desire...Grasping after desire and believing that your happiness depends on getting it is what imprisons the mind, not the desire itself.

Chapter 8, Pg 75-76

For your reflection:
Think back over the last few months and see if can identify a situation in which you were caught in grasping and yet unable to change the situation to be as you would like. Did the added clinging help you achieve your goal? If not, think about how you suffered because of that grasping. Is this really the way you want to live?
