Teaching #9 Resistance to Suffering

 

When you deny, resist, resent or have aversion to the experience of your own suffering, you are unwilling to consciously bear it. It is this resistance to accepting your life just as it is that makes suffering ignoble, despicable, and shameful.

For your reflection: In the First Insight the Buddha asks you to carry your suffering without judgment and without resistance. Try, this week to "catch yourself" resisting and instead bear those moments with compassion and mindfulness in your heart.
